Because the three indentations (eyes) on the hairy nut resembles the head and face of a monkey. The early Spanish explorers called it coco, which means “monkey face”. The coconut provides a nutritious source of meat, juice, milk, and oil that has fed and nourished populations around the world for generations. This fruit is highly nutritious and rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals. Because it provides many health benefits beyond its nutritional content, it is classified as a “functional food”.

Coconut masks for healthy locks

It is important to keep blood and oxygen flowing to all parts of the body. However, many people with bad circulation find that their scalp cells die, which means that hair will stop growing. Here are some effective and easy to make coconut hair growth masks to improve and protect your stresses.

Coconut milk masks

Just give your scalp a gentle coconut milk massage and let it set for 30 minutes and rinse. After that you can use your regular shampoo. Even better if it was a natural chemical free shampoo. Repeat twice a month if you have normal/oily hair and twice a week for dry and damaged hair.  
  2. Coconut milk conditioner: 
  • Take 4 tablespoons of coconut milk and mix it with honey and hair oil (you can use olive oil or castor oil).
  • Heat this mixture for 2 minutes and then apply it to your hair.
  • Now wear a hair cap and leave your hair for an hour.
  • Wash your hair with organic shampoo. 

Coconut oil masks

    a gentle 3 minutes massage using only your fingertips. As a result the oil will boost the circulation in your scalp. For best results, comb oil through hair, cover with shower cap, and leave on 1 hour or overnight. In the morning, rinse with warm water, wash with natural, sulfate free shampoo, and towel dry. Conditioner is not necessary as coconut oil serves the same functions. Repeat 3 times a week. Note: You can apply coconut oil to your hair after shower if you have split ends or in general dry locks.
  2. Coconut Oil with Almond Oil for dry hair: 
    • Add few drops of almond oil to enough of coconut oil.
    • Massage on your scalp for 5 minutes.
    • Gently comb mixture through hair, cover with shower cap, and leave on for 1 hour.
    • Rinse with water and wash with natural shampoo.
    • Repeat 2 times a week for dry hair and twice a month for normal to oily hair.
