Damaged Hair Treatments

Damaged hair is a very common problem in our generation. Taking in consideration all the modern hair tools, chemical hair products and straighteners, we’re lucky to still have few hairs stuck to our heads. Like what hair has to go through during the day-of sun exposure, dust and weather changes-isn’t enough, already. Our strands are like flowers, if we don’t take care of them by nourishing, treating and protecting them, they won’t grow up healthy and strong. So, what I’m gonna do is give you some natural damaged hair treatments that will help reduce the damage and nourish your tresses from root to ends. But don’t worry, this treatment for damaged hair won’t take much time and is absolutely cheap. 

What’s wrong with my hair?

A healthy head of hair really is an every woman’s dream. A healthy good hair makes us feel confident and beautiful. They are like the crown we never take of. Seeing them break, thin and fall out due to many factors can have its tolls on our emotions. Here is why our hair is getting worse with time.

Hormonal changes

If hormones can zap our energy and steal our sex drive, it’s probably no surprise that they can also turn our tresses into a mess. Here are the hormonal changes that make our hairs act weird:

  • Estrogen

While this hormone helps stabilize our moods and contribute to a healthy sex drive, too much of it can lead to many hair changes including damaging and shedding. Women notice these changes during pregnancy and after birth. 

  • Thyroid imbalances

 Thyroid hormones regulate energy levels and reproduction of all cells. For instance, it helps the body stay warm and keeps the heart, brain, muscles and all organs fully operational. The imbalanced production of hormone levels by our thyroid  can result in many hair changes. Be it the overactive or the underactive thyroid, both affect our hair health. So, you may wanna check your thyroid productions if you notice excessive hair loss. 

  • Insulin

According to a study, women with some markers of insulin resistance have a greater risk for androgenic alopecia (Female pattern baldness). Insulin is the hormone in charge of regulating blood sugar levels. It also affects a number of different body processes, including fat storage, heart health and hair growth. So anything wrong with the levels of this hormone, will definitely affect our hair health. 

  • Testosterone

Too much testosterone in women creates all sorts of unpleasant results. For example, it can cause hair to grow on many parts of the body where it shouldn’t be, but cause it to fall off our heads. It means that the over production of this hormone acts against our desire. Sad, but true.

Using the Wrong Shampoo

Most of us just use whatever shampoo they find in the market or in someone’s bathroom. It is very important to know your hair type and use a suitable shampoo and conditioner. When you run out of shampoo, you would be better off rinsing your hair a few times with just water to remove so of the oil, rather than risk the stripping effects of a shampoo that is not right for you. Choose a hydrating shampoo with a low pH that’s specifically made for your hair. Means, get your hair an organic shampoo which is free of chemicals and sulfate free. 

The Weather

While the sun won’t really negatively affect healthy hair, chemically processed hair doesn’t respond too well to ultraviolet rays. In addition, swimming and using products with alcohol can all dehydrate hair during the summer. Unfortunately, the sudden change from summer to winter will only make hair feel worse. 

Daily styling and harsh chemicals

The most common causes of damaged hair can be traced to how you regularly treat your lock. Perms, relaxers, color treatments, and bleach can all be contributing causes of unhealthy hair. If your troubles come from dry or damaged locks, regular styling might hurt more than help. These tools strip your locks of moisture and cause quite a bit of unnecessary damage that we can all avoid. Try to give your hair a space to breathe and let it dry naturally without any tool or blow dryer. 

Daily meals

Your low-fat diet could be contributing to your damaged hair. Skin and hair need essential fatty acids to stay soft and healthy. Make sure you’re getting enough of the right kind of fats in your diet. What you eat shows up on your hair, however, if you have poor hair it means that you’re eating the wrong foods. 

Damaged hair treatments

In order to look classy in parties, people try various hair styles and harsh products, which damage the natural beauty of hair. So treatment for damaged hair/damaged-hair-treatmentsit is necessary to use some natural damaged hair treatments in order to maintain a proper healthy hair. Instead of taking several chemical treatments, why don’t we choose a treatment for damaged hair from what nature gives us. The good news is, you have it all in your kitchen sitting there waiting for you to notice them. 

Choose your treatment for damaged hair

Some people may underestimate this treatment for damaged hair, but natural ingredients and oils are very effective treatments. Here are some homemade recipes that can help you treat your damaged locks.

Milk

Remember how our grannies use milk to sweep the leaves of their favorite plants? It’s the very same with hair. Milk is a natural blend of proteins, vitamins, minerals, and fats, which acts as a nutrient for the body and helps in strengthening cells. Here’s how to use this treatment for damaged hair : Pour some unboiled milk in a bowl, soak a cotton ball in it and apply it directly on hair and scalp. Than leave it for an hour and wash your hair thoroughly. You can use your shampoo after that.

Eggs

One of my favorite treatment for damaged and dry hair. It’s very easy to apply and yet effective. Mix two egg folks with half cup of olive oil. Stir the mixture well and apply it directly on hair. Cover your head with a shower cap. Rinse after one hour.

Or

Separate white part of egg and damp it on hair. Leave it for 20 minutes and then, wash it off.

Coconut oil

Coconut oil is considered to be a magical treatment for damaged hair. While there are several ways to use this oil, you can choose the simplest one. Just apply oil to your hair and scalp and gently massage with your fingertips. Leave it for a whole night, than wash it off the next morning. If you have split ends and dry hair, use few drops of this oil on your wet hair after shower. 

Yogurt

Yogurt is a natural conditioner for dry and damaged hair. The moisturizing properties of yogurt help in curing your hair. Add a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar and a teaspoon of honey in half cup of yogurt. Mix it and apply it on hair and hair roots. After 15 minutes, rinse your hair with warm water. Use your usual shampoo after.

Bananas

This is yet an other great treatment for damaged hair. One of my weekly effective damaged hair treatments. Bananas are rich in potassium, antioxidants, and vitamins, which makes them a beautifying fruit. First of all, you’re gonna need to prepare a banana paste. Just blend two over ripe bananas and add one tablespoon each of coconut oil, honey, and olive oil. Apply this paste on hair for 15 minutes. And then wash it off with warm water. Shampoo as usual.

Essential Oil

If you’re looking for the most easy treatment for damaged hair, essential oils are the answer. These oils will nourish your locks and maintain their strength, shine, and bounce. You simply have to massage your hair and scalp with essential oils every once in a while depending on how dry and damaged your hair is. The oils you may use as damaged hair treatments are; sandalwood, rosemary, geranium, and lavender. Oil massage can be done 20 to 30 minutes before shampooing your hair.
